Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is located right next to the Grand Palace, the most beautiful and important Buddhist temple in Thailand. Face the astonishing 24-inch Emerald Buddha, carved from one large piece of jade, that sits under a canopy on a gilded pedestal. Dating back to 1782, when Bangkok was founded, Wat Phra Kaew consists of over 100 brightly colored buildings, golden spires, and glittering mosaics. It is so richly and intricately decorated that, once entering the temple, you will feel as if you are in a real ’city of angels’.

The Royal Grand Palace, an area of 218,400 sq. metres and is surrounded by walls built in 1782. The length of the four walls is 1,900 metres. Within these walls are situated government offices and the Chapel Royal of the Emerald Buddha besides the royal residences. A visit to the Royal Grand Palace is a must for any visitor and it is the nation's landmark and most praised royal monument in Thailand. Once the residence of former Chakri Kings, the palace is the perfect example of an ancient Siamese court. King Rama I built it in 1782 and it was the center of power for more than 150 years. Today, the palace is Bangkok's major landmark and most popular tourist attraction.
   
After the Grand Palace tour is the City-sightseeing tour of Rattanakosin Island, the original area of Bangkok when it was first established as the capital over 200 years ago as we drive along Ratchadumnoen Rd.(The Royal’s Way). En route you can see many magnificent temples and architectural buildings, including the City Pillar Shrine, National Museum, Democracy Monument, Golden Mountain, Thai Boxing Stadium, and Parliament House.
